What is AMLS?

AMLS is a groundbreaking new direction toward advanced-level training and education in EMS. This curriculum has been carefully reviewed by the National Association of EMS Physicians and the National Associationof EMT. AMLS leads the way in the on-going education of Paramedics by teaching practical methods for treating adult medical emergencies. Each chapter in the course-text moves from assessment-based procedures to field diagnosisand management of treatable causes, offering realistic methods that seasoned EMS practitioners use.

Why take AMLS?

Paramedics routinely seek challenging course work in cardiac(ACLS), trauma (PHTLS, BTLS) and pediatric (PALS, PEPP) care. AMLS offers a similar degree of expertise in the specialty area of medical emergencies.

Who should take AMLS?

AMLS is designed for students who are currently taking or have completed Paramedic or other advanced-level patient care educationprograms.

What is unique about this curriculum?

Each chapter in the text includes case studies and a variety of hypothetical situations that encourage students to apply concepts and sharpen their critical thinking skills. Students complete practical skills-stationsin teams, encouraging and promoting realism in the stations.

This course:
  • highlights terms and definitions, key ideas and summaries
  • introduces each chapter with a relevant case study and then concludes the chapter with a follow-up to that same case study
  • challenges students to bring information together from all prior chapters and apply it to a variety of patients
  • reinforces written content with full-color drawings and photographs
  • contains pharmacology and normal lab data
